At J Mann Associates we want to support people in the UK and make a positive impact on their lives.

We have chosen to do this in two ways.

1 – To support the charity Pseudomyxoma Survivor by helping to raise awareness of this rare cancer.

2 – To gift places on the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction 8 week course for those who are experiencing financial difficulty.

About Pseudomyxoma Survivor

Pseudomyxoma Survivor is a very small charity run by patients and caregivers. They have a thriving support community providing emotional support to anyone whose life has been touched by pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) as well as appendix cancer and other peritoneal surface malignancies. As these diseases are so rare having a global presence gives the community a scale where it is able to offer genuine support and advice around the clock – both emotional and practical. Patients, caregivers and families have joined together to create an online ‘family’.

Together they:

  • offer practical and emotional advice on managing symptoms and all aspects of living with this rare disease
  • help patients advocate for their own care
  • manage a one-to-one buddy system
  • fund small grants to help patients and caregivers with the impact of treatment
  • support research

As a non-profit organisation, they are completely dependent on voluntary donations. They are too small to have offices or staff; the charity is run entirely by volunteers, around work and family commitments.

Their patron is Sean Hepburn Ferrer. Sean’s mother, Audrey Hepburn, passed away shortly after being diagnosed with PMP. Sean also has a special interest in rare diseases more generally and is Rare Disease Day Ambassador for Eurordis, the voice of 30 million people affected by rare diseases throughout Europe, and NORD, a patient advocacy organisation representing 280 patient organisation members in North America. He was nominated as Rare Disease Day Ambassador by Pseudomyxoma Survivor’s founder, Dawn Green.
Pseudomyxoma Survivor is a registered charity in England and Wales no 1143642

Mindfulness Wiltshire

‘During the last 12 months I have been through a life changing experience.  Like many business owners I’m a control freak, this was something I couldn’t control. I didn’t know how I was going to get through this difficult time in my life. Then I discovered Mindfulness.
Mindfulness helps people find ways to work with the challenges life delivers to them.  I attended Ambers 8 week course and it has completely changed my life. It helped me accept what was happening and learn to live in the present instead of living in the future.
As a business owner I believe it’s important for a business to give something back to their community.  I realised that many people would benefit from the course like I did, but may not have the finances to pay for it.  By gifting these places I hope it will help others experience the benefits of Mindfulness, enhance their life and live in the present.’ Jacqui Mann
